High-Low Odds: Playing Fall Footwear

September 3, 2009

EXCLUSIVE FALL PREVIEW!!!

Odds are low I’ll be pairing my skinny jeans and faux fur vest with these flats come fall, but clearly to no fault of their own.  They are obvi SUPERCUTE for those of us who don’t need help in the height department…

Not that I’m jealous or anything ;)

Gwyneth

I can already envision them on my BFF, EE, who has long lean runner’s legs and can parade around town sans heel in her flats and tar-jay denim like the cutie she is.

I think she’d go for the brown if shopping alone but under the influence of her favorite diva, I’d persuade her to buy blue.

SO much more fun.

But two paragraphs is enough already on EE, right?!

As for me - odds are high I’m making an OTK (over-the-knee) statement this season.

Perhaps also better suited for our tall friends (damn them!), I still tried on a pair and fell madly in lust.

Fall 2009 is all about making a strong statement (hello, the return of shoulder pads?!) — but OTK boots are beyond strong, they are dangerously powerful.

Fiercely feminine.

And with a modest heel, you can downplay the dominatrix factor.

These in particular translate more as weekend warrior. Strictly for the girl who’s going for hers. No apologies. No fear.

And where better to shop in NYC for fall footwear than SHOEGASM, where you’ll undoubtedly have an Oh! moment…

As in, Oh my god these are so hot AND so affordable?!!!

Stop by the Meatpacking/Chelsea, Flatiron or Soho/Tribeca locations to see more and play the odds yourself.

About SHOEGASM (recently featured in WWD):

The boutique that Farshad Noraani and Eddie Cuevas opened in 1999 began as “Ubu,” but quickly became better known by its slogan, Shoegasm. Cuevas and Noraani deliberately picked locations where Shoegasm’s moderate price points and trendy selection would stand out from its more luxury-focused neighbors. Shoegasm now has three locations in Meatpacking/Chelsea, Flatiron and Soho/Tribeca and stocks both men’s and women’s shoes. Its eclectic collection is not dependant on the brand-specific but instead on making sure its inventory is always up-to-date and interesting. The stores’ soft lighting, rugs, and comfortable furniture create a vintage, cozy atmosphere that invites customers to spend time there. Shoegasm is committed to keeping a carefully curated and always-changing inventory.

Soon enough it’ll be back up and running…

Which color did you get? Are you already making outfits in your head or am I the only one who does that??

    thanks ldiva!

and no you’re totally not the only one who does that… i wanted those blue flats because i wear this one black pencil skirt allll the time and i thought neon blue would make that more interesting.

first off, there can never be too many paragraphs about EE! i’m blushing from the compliments. i do love my flats and tar-jay jeans though, you know me so well. ;) and i ADORE these flats especially, and i’m going to buy them right now! since the shoegasm website is down (thanks for the tip maureen!), and since i (sadly) do not live in NYC, i googled “starlet by gwyneth” and found another website selling them: http://www.endless.com/Gwyneth-Shoes-Womens-Starlet-Skimmer/dp/B002AVUZVQ#tabsAnchor. they even have them in 4 more colors! i’m going to get the blue, not the brown, just like ldiva recommends. never disregard ldiva advice – she knows what she’s talking about! :)

ooooh i like the fuschia too!!

although i’m sure you didn’t have an OH! moment on endless.com (us NYers prefer to have Shoegasms), i’m so glad you were able to find them!
